Today is the second anniversary of the historic Inflation Reduction Act!
Because of this law, r ight now there’s more than $2 billion in federal funds available to help communities like Philadelphia tackle pressing environmental challenges. This is an incredible opportunity, but funds are being granted on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we need to make sure your elected officials apply before it’s too late! [[link removed]]
Anyone who’s spent a hot day in one of our cities without enough trees to shade them or has experienced damage from flooding knows that our weather patterns are changing – and low-income communities and communities of color are feeling these extreme impacts the most.
The federal government recognized that our communities need support in order to adapt to these changes, and created historic levels of funding available through the federal Inflation Reduction Act! All Philadelphia needs to do is apply for it – but the deadline is coming up!
Please send Philadelphia officials a message urging them to apply for federal funding ASAP to deal with the environmental challenges in your community. [[link removed]]
Families and children are facing new problems with the changing environment every year – flooding, heatwaves, polluted air, more invasive bugs like ticks and spotted lantern flies, and the list goes on.
Black, Brown, and low-income families are hardest hit because their communities have historically been skipped over, and these communities experience higher levels of asthma and health problems.
There are solutions to these problems – planting trees and increasing green spaces in cities to lower temperatures, better infrastructure to reduce flooding, and switching to clean energy to reduce pollution. We scored a huge victory with the Inflation Reduction Act to fund these kind of projects, but funds for one key program are only available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we need to tell our local leaders to act now!
Don’t let your local officials leave money on the table. We need them to be proactive, apply for these funds, and use them to protect our communities. Please, send a message and then share this action and make voices from Philadelphia heard! [[link removed]]
