On the 4th of July I joined Mayor Mengoni in North Riverside where I met many of my constituents and shared information about the services offered by my office.

I stopped by the Taste of Oak Brook to connect with my constituents and support our local small business community.

Laws like HB 3882 show how Illinois values the contributions of migrants to our state. This new law will grant undocumented immigrants the opportunity to obtain a standardized Illinois Driver’s License and ensure the safety of everyone.

I applaud the efforts of Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and the countless organizations and advocates that made this law a reality! In Congress, I will continue to advance opportunities for immigrants who undeniably contribute to our communities and economy.

Thanks to Increase the Peace (ITP) for bringing neighbors together to launch their summer series at the ITP Freedom Hub in Back of the Yards. ITP will organize events, workshops, and outreach programs to remind our youth that they have people and spaces to rely on. The future of our community lies with our youth. This is why in Congress I’m working to reintroduce the Connecting Youth to Jobs Act, which creates living-wage employment opportunities and wrap-around services for youth.

My social justice values are deeply connected to my faith and upbringing as a Catholic. That’s why I joined my colleague Rep. Rosa DeLauro at her press conference with Network, a Catholic social justice group, to reaffirm our commitment to supporting legislation that protects the right to seek asylum, supports affordable health care, and advances racial and economic justice. These are not only our shared values, they are priority issues for my constituents.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced more than $430 million to Illinois for community-driven solutions to cut climate pollution. This investment is a crucial step to tackling the climate crisis and reducing pollution that disproportionately affects Latino, Black and working-class neighborhoods.

I look forward to working with the EPA, hand-in-hand with community organizations, to achieve a healthier environment for my constituents and our entire region.

We are now accepting applications for Fall interns in my District offices! 

The internship is set to last for 12 weeks, and interns are expected to work for 30 hours/week at a rate of $15/hour.

I am seeking disciplined, energetic, and motivated candidates to gain essential experience in the federal government. This is an opportunity to develop professionally, obtain office management skills, and serve the people of Illinois’ 4th Congressional District!
