Dear Friend,
Green candidates are off to the races! Given the media's immersion in all things Paris Olympics, forgive me for the sporting metaphors.
Our Green cousins in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and British Columbia all have province-wide elections in late October. Please support them with your donations!
But meanwhile, two federal Green Party of Canada candidates have critical E-Days on September 16 - only 30 days from now!
If running for an election in late October feels like a marathon, running for an election in mid-September is definitely a sprint!
Every race matters. Every candidate, like every athlete, is giving it their all. So while marathon canoe races can go for kilometers, Canadian Katie Vincent took gold in an astonishing 200 meter sprint, paddling like mad in her canoe. Right now, Nic Geddert in the Winnipeg by-election in Elmwood—Transcona and Jency Mercier in the Montreal race in LaSalle—Émard—Verdun are working hard to make a difference in their respective by-elections.
By-elections are like sprints - they are fast and furious!
Nic and Jency have far fewer resources than the candidates for the bigger parties. I wish we could write big cheques so they could be competitive in spending on pamphlets, advertising, and signs. Our volunteers are working hard. We are being as innovative as possible to stretch a small budget. Our team is trying out new messages and new ways to move social media. Anything you can donate now will make a big difference as we sprint toward the finish line.
Please send what you can so voters notice there is a great Green candidate in the race. Let us know if you have time to make phone calls to help in their campaigns.
Thanks so much for your dedication and support!
In solidarity,
Elizabeth E. May
Leader, Green Party of Canada
