Irving, TX - Hope you are staying cool this week amid the heat! As schools across our community begin the new year, I'd like to take a moment to wish our North Texas students, teachers, and families a safe and educational school year.
On Monday, I toured Cintas Facilities in Coppell. We discussed their business operations locally and abroad in Haiti and Africa. I shared how I'm strengthening U.S. relations and trade with allies around the world through my role on the Ways and Means Committee.
I also had the honor of speaking in celebration of the Southwest Transplant Alliance’s 50th Anniversary. This Dallas-based organization plays an important role in saving Texans' lives through organ and tissue donation. In response to the concerns they've raised, I’ve introduced legislative solutions to remove bureaucratic red tape hindering the transportation of organs to patients in need, including through my Saving Organs One Flight at a Time Act.
Later in the week, I met with workers at Best Buy in Dallas. I appreciated the warm welcome before hearing some of the challenges they face, such as organized retail crime, and updating them on my work to combat this large-scale theft. You can read more about our discussion in the Work of the Week section below.
I've appreciated hearing from so many members of our community about last week's job fair! If you attended, I hope you were able to make meaningful connections and discover new opportunities. I'd love to hear about your experience. Please click here to share your thoughts.
Texas-24 Work of the Week
As I work with my colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee to prevent the largest tax increase in American history, I’ve been meeting with North Texans to discuss their concerns about the tax code. This week, I met with Best Buy in Dallas and discussed the successful provisions of the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts that have allowed them to reinvest in their employees.

This week's Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Lieutenant Colonel Asa Pearson from Bedford, who is retiring from the United States Army after 40 years of honorable service. Thank you, LTC Pearson, for your service to our country!
