Dear john,
This week marks 89 years since President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law, guaranteeing seniors can retire with dignity after a lifetime of hard work.
Even as 10,000 Baby Boomers a day become eligible for Social Security, Congress has not acted to enhance benefits in more than 50 years. I am a proud supporter of the Social Security 2100 Act, alongside nearly 200 of my colleagues in Congress.
This bill would protect the program Americans pay into with each and every paycheck, provide an across-the-board benefit increase, and ensure benefits keep pace with inflation by “scrapping the cap” on Americans making more than $400,000 a year so they pay into Social Security like everyone else.
Congress must act.
I will keep working in Washington to ensure this program serves our nation for decades to come.
