Visiting with Oklahomans is the most valuable way for me to hear directly from you and stay current on the needs of working businesses and families across our state. We held six public community meetings in Henryetta, Checotah, Sallisaw, Stigler, Chandler, and Okemah to give Oklahomans the chance to hear an update on my work in Washington and ask questions. No topics were off limits.
From the economy and the border crisis to infrastructure and issues with federal agencies, I truly appreciate all those who took the time to listen and lend their insights on local priorities. Later this month, we'll head to western Oklahoma for more community forums which will be open to the public! Stay tuned for details.
I also had the opportunity to tour the new Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs (ODVA) Center in Sallisaw with their leadership team. ODVA plans to open the doors to the 175-bed home this fall. Thank you to Executive Director Rear Admiral Jay Bynum, Deputy Director Shawn Kirkland, ODVA Commissioner Daniel Orr, and ODVA Construction Programs Administrator Nisha Young along with the rest of the leadership team for their dedication to this project and our veterans.
