At the end of July, I introduced the Ensuring Airline Resiliency to Reduce Delays and Cancellations Act. Last month, travelers faced unprecedented flight delays and cancellations due to systematic failures caused by a CrowdStrike outage.

This technology meltdown left thousands of flights canceled and thousands more families and travelers stranded at airports across the country. The flying public deserves a safe, smooth, and worry-free travel experience, and the airlines were unable to provide that.

The legislation I introduced will require airlines to enhance their operational resiliency plans, ensuring they will be thinking ahead and be better prepared for future large-scale disruptions. Airlines can and must do better.

Flight delays and cancellations have increasingly impacted the flying public over the past several years. These delays and cancellations can have devastating consequences, and this legislation aims to mitigate these challenges in the future by encouraging airlines to act more proactively.

Every American deserves a safe and smooth travel experience.

More soon,

Rick
