Together, we are reimagining an energy system that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few at the top. From Alaska to Puerto Rico, communities that are impacted first and worst by corporate greed and the climate crisis are rising up to advance systems that support our health and wellbeing.

Everyday people, just like you and me, are shifting power from Wall Street and profit-driven power companies to communities so that we can make our homes places where we all breathe clean air, drink safe water, and live a good life.

We call this Energy Democracy.

Democratizing energy is a tool for justice. Communities that organize for local renewable energy and control can free themselves from the impact of decisions made by profit-driven energy corporations and the politicians who take their money. By empowering communities to make their own energy choices–first and foremost low-income, Black, Brown and Indigenous communities–we can begin to repair the harm of decades of environmental racism, and provide safe, clean energy to everyone.
