Dear John,
With fewer than 90 days to go until Election Day (and less until early voting), there’s been a palpable shift in young voters' attention around this election. Just open Tiktok. While we know likes and shares don’t equal votes – we know Gen Z is awake and listening.
Since the beginning of July, Rock the Vote has processed over 120,000 voter registration applications and have had nearly 50,000 registration status lookups on our website.
With over 16 million young people eligible to vote in their first presidential election – Rock the Vote is making sure that they are registered and informed to cast their vote this November.
We are hopeful, but we also know there is much more work to be done. Recent analysis by CIRCLE showed that youth voter registration is lagging behind 2020 numbers in most states. Their report shows what we know to be true: there is a lot of work to be done over the next 3 months to ensure newly eligible and young voters are registered for this year’s election.
The good news is that this is what Rock the Vote was made to do and we know what works. Our efforts focus on research-driven programs and innovative solutions to right the system and ensure each youth generation is represented in our democracy. I’m excited to share below some of the partnerships and programs we are already running - with more exciting updates coming soon!

As we head into the fall, Rock the Vote is excited to launch partnerships with new and long-time partners. Last week, Sony announced the return of their “Your Voice, Your Power, Your Vote” in partnership with Rock the Vote and other civic participation organizations. This campaign was originally launched in 2020, and aims at educating voters and encouraging them to vote in the upcoming elections.

Rock the Vote is thrilled to, once again, team up with the WNBA and the WNBA Players’ Association (WNBPA) to launch the WNBPA x WNBA Election Center. This is a one-stop-shop where W fans can register to vote; check their registration status; look-up their polling place; sign up for election reminders; learn about their state’s voting policies, request their absentee ballot and more. This year, WNBA players are dedicating the 2024 Season to protecting reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy through the vote. Through this partnership, the WNBPA is committed to ensuring every fan has the resources and support they need to make their voices heard in the democratic process.

We’re also continuing to do what we do best - ensuring that young people register to vote and have the information they need to make informed decisions at the polls. Our Democracy Explainers provide insight on topics like how to research your ballot, the electoral college, voting in a primary, voter roll purging, and much more. This year our “Voting in a Primary Election” explainer has been our second most visited - with over 50,000 visitors coming to learn more about the process.

We also have our election reminders, details on how to vote by state, and how to check your registration – among many other resources. In the coming weeks, we are excited to launch our Ballot Information Tool. This tool will allow voters to search editorial boards, unions, advocacy groups, & other organizations to find endorsed candidates on their ballot and to easily compare candidates. We know young voters are looking for non-partisan guides to help them decide who to vote for and we are here to help provide that information.
These partnerships and tools are just part of the work that Rock the Vote will be doing across the fall to ensure young people are ready and empowered to make their voices heard!
The future of our democracy lies with the future of this nation: young people. But mobilizing new, young voters takes time and resources. The stakes are high, but with your support, we can do our part to ensure record-breaking turnout. Let's make 2024 the year of the youth vote!
In gratitude, Carolyn DeWitt
