Hi John,
This is our third installment in our email series highlighting some of the features we’ve released recently on Action Network & Action Builder. With so many releases and so many great new features, it can be tough to keep track of them all. Here’s your friendly reminder of some of our recent highlights!
As Product Director at Action Network, I work with our partners to brainstorm, build, and launch new features designed to take your email and organizing programs to the next level. With less than 100 days until Election Day, these features can help supercharge your campaign in the home stretch!
Features in this update:
-
Gamechanger: First Hour Statistics for emails
-
Organizing Power Up: New Wall Chart visualizations in Action Builder
-
Workflow Helper: Button Builder
-
Callback feature: Mobile Messaging — voice notes via MMS
Gamechanger: First Hour Statistics for emails
You may have noticed a new button on the Email Manage page: First Hour Statistics. This tab shows a snapshot of your engagement at the one hour mark, which is a helpful measure of the success of the email.
This feature has been particularly helpful to folks running fundraising programs. If an email sent to a segment of your audience has raised a good amount of money after one hour, then that’s a good indication that that email was a winner and you should send it to a wider audience.
Organizing Power Up: New wall chart visualizations in Action Builder
This new feature makes Action Builder, our powerful organizing tool, even more flexible for all types of campaigns. As a default, the wall chart displays assessments, i.e., how many ‘1s’, or strong supporters you have, versus how many ‘3s’, or folks who are on the fence about your campaign, for example. This is an extremely useful tool for visualizing your campaign and figure out your next strategic moves to build power, but many campaigns benefit from a more flexible approach.
Now, you can look at a distribution on the wall chart based off of field responses. For example, you can see a visualization of how many cards have been signed within different groupings (locations, departments, etc). Learn more about Action Builder here, and sign up for our next demo here.
Workflow Helper: Button Builder
We love buttons in emails, so we made it even easier to create your own (without HTML) within Action Network! Build your own custom buttons while writing an email by setting the design, the button text, and the link, and we’ll generate the buttons for you — including social share button options. Click ‘More’ from the toolbar to get started.
(Here’s the button builder in action!)
Callback feature: Send voice notes via MMS mobile messages
(‘Callback’, like on a phone, get it?)
Mobile Messaging on Action Network makes it easy to incorporate dual-channel engagement into your mobilization program. You can follow up your fundraising email a few minutes later with a fundraising text bumping the ask and reaching people where they are (probably on the couch, watching the Olympics with their phone in their hand).
Did you know you can also send voice notes via mobile messaging? MMS (short for Multimedia Messaging Service) messages allow you to send images and voice notes to your supporters. Include a voice message from your candidate in your next fundraising or volunteer ask or a message asking folks to stay in line on Election Day.
Learn more about Action Network Mobile Messaging by joining a demo or sign up to add Mobile Messaging to your existing partnership here.
Side note: We are recommending that folks who want to get set up on Mobile Messaging for campaign work do so before Friday, September 27th. This is because it can take a week to get set up with your phone number, and we want you to have at least a month before the election to use this tool!
On behalf of all of us at Action Network & Action Builder, I hope that these features help you supercharge your program! We’re always hosting trainings, deep dive webinars, and demos, which you can find on our events calendar here. Check out recordings of past trainings on our YouTube channels for Action Network and Action Builder.
Thanks for all of your work building progressive power!
Take care,
Mari Vangen-Strom
