Friend, I just got a text from my campaign manager, and listen, it's not good news: We fell just short of our $1 million mid-month fundraising goal yesterday. 

Here’s the thing: It's never good to miss a goal, but this is a particularly worrisome time. Donald Trump is personally attacking me every chance he gets, and the GOP is outspending us on TV as they flood the airwaves with attack ads against me. Right now, they're spending more money in Ohio this fall than in any other Senate race, and we're at risk of being completely drowned out if we continue to be outspent.

The GOP knows that control of the Senate hinges on what happens in Ohio, so they're putting everything they have into defeating me this fall. That's why we really need to dig deep and put everything we’ve got into defending my must-win seat and keeping the Senate blue. 

It might be hard to believe, but the resources we raise now – not in November – will have the biggest impact on our ability to win this race. That makes hitting our fundraising goals so important, and falling short could be so costly.

So please, friend, can I count on your help to make up the shortfall we're facing? Will you rush $5 or more now to help close our budget gap, win in Ohio, and keep the Senate blue?
