Improving Mental Health Care Access
|
Indiana is making tremendous progress in our efforts to provide mental health resources to Hoosiers following a historic investment championed by Senate Republicans last year.
In conjunction with our 2023 state budget, a new law I supported provided $100 million to help expand the number of mental health clinics in Indiana and build out a better mental health care system for Hoosiers.
Thanks to this legislation, Indiana was recently ranked 24th in the nation
by Mental Health America, improving from our 2022 ranking of 42nd in the nation.
Mental health continues to be a major concern for many Americans, with nearly 1 in 5 adults having a diagnosable mental health condition in any given year.
While I am happy to see these improvements in Indiana's mental health care system, as your state senator, I will continue supporting policies that will help ensure all Hoosiers who need it have access to mental health care.
If you or someone you know needs mental health support, contact the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by dialing 9-8-8 to speak with a trained specialist. All calls are free, and the line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. |

Districts across Indiana can utilize state-funded grants and other programs to maintain and improve their communities. Highlighted below is
one of many grants and programs offered or administered by the state of Indiana.
Indiana Main Street Program
The Indiana Main Street Program has been helping communities use local resources and initiatives to revitalize the economy, appearance and image of
their downtown commercial districts.
Indiana Main Street communities are eligible to apply for the Preserving Main Street grant program.
Applications are now open. By applying for the program, which is run by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, towns and cities may gain access to a variety of tools that help with community development, downtown revitalization, fostering a pride of place and more.

Applications Open for Indiana Education Scholarship
Applications are now open for the Indiana Education Scholarship program and are due by Sept. 1.
The program provides scholarships to students with disabilities that can be used toward educational resources including educational programs, therapies, services, tuition and fees at private schools, curricular materials, and other education-related expenses.
Siblings of students with disabilities are also eligible for the scholarship thanks to a new law I supported this session.
