Tell Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson: Let Us March!

Dear John,

Next week, the Democratic National Convention is taking place in Chicago – making the city the epicenter of the movement as tens of thousands will take to the streets in protest against Israel’s genocide campaign in Gaza. As part of the Coalition to March on the DNC, CODEPINK will ensure the demands of the people are heard! We need your support. Right now, the City of Chicago is attempting to prevent us from effectively marching on the convention to make our most important demand clear: END U.S. FUNDING TO ISRAEL! Our coalition is standing strong against this repression, and we urgently need your help to make the march on the DNC happen!

👉 Demand Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson ensures our right to peaceful protest is upheld and respected!

We will be marching and taking nonstop action for Gaza in Chicago all week — whether or not the city approves. We have every right to be angry when less than a week ago, Israel bombed Tabi’in School in Gaza using U.S. bombs that mutilated the bodies of one hundred Palestinians. The carnage was so brutal that family members were forced to bury bags of body parts that equaled the weight of one person, not knowing if the contents contained even a piece of their loved ones.

Since then, Israel carried out a precision strike that killed a woman, her mother, and her two newborn twins. The father, who was away picking up the babies’ birth certificates, found out he lost his entire family when he arrived at the hospital. It is our duty to be in the streets, rallying for an end to this barbaric nightmare that can only continue with the U.S.’s support.

Mayor Johnson, a former Chicago public school teacher, activist and advocate for social justice, knows firsthand the power of protest. He broke the tie in favor of Chicago’s ceasefire resolution with his vote earlier this year. Yet, as the convention nears, our coalition is being denied basic necessities that will allow us to rally at the DNC effectively and safely.

👉 Call on Mayor Johnson to honor his movement roots and let us march!

This year’s DNC will go down in history as a time we stood unified in the face of genocide and repression. We are setting a standard together: The American people will continue to demand peace and justice until U.S. militarism no longer plagues the earth. Help us deliver this message by sending a letter to Mayor Johnson, and joining us at the DNC!

“I told them Ali is 6 years old. They gave me an 18 kg bag of body parts. I don’t know if this is my son or not, I don’t know what I’m carrying in this bag. They said he’s my son, and I don’t know anything, and I don’t see anything of my son in this bag.”

-Hassan Ahmad, father of Ali, who was martyred during Israel’s “Fajr massacre” in Gaza.

👉 Keep taking action:
