Air Quality Alert Impacts Burning Permits
Burning Permits will not be activated August 16-18, 2024 in parts of northwest Minnesota.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an air quality alert for parts of northwest Minnesota beginning August 16 at 3 p.m., until August 18 at 6 p.m.
To reduce additional air pollutants, burning permits will not be issued or activated. Campfires are discouraged. Area includes Clay, Kittson, Norman, Marshall, Polk, and Wilkin
For up-to-date information on fire danger and burning restrictions visit www.mndnr.gov/burnrestrictions.
The air quality is expected to reach the red air quality index, a level considered unhealthy for everyone. It may improve to orange (unhealthy for sensitive groups) on Saturday. Smoke will linger until at least Sunday.
