Dear John,

The Republican Study Committee, the largest group of Republicans in Congress, is calling for major cuts to Social Security and an increase in the retirement age. Although these ideas are wildly unpopular with Americans, extremist Republicans and conservative think-tanks like the Heritage Foundation—the authors of Project 2025—are still pushing for these policies.

This GOP plan includes raising the retirement age from 67 to 69, making workers eligible for Social Security later in life, and making them sacrifice thousands of dollars of benefits. The cuts the Committee is proposing would create cuts to Social Security between 12.5% and 14.3%, and a median-earner would lose out on thousands of dollars every year until they reached 69.

On the other hand, Congressional Democrats are dedicated to expanding and protecting Social Security benefits. We want the ultra-wealthy and corporations to pay their fair share of taxes in order to help pay for these benefits, and we want more Americans to be able to retire when they need to. We need a Democratic majority in Congress and Vice President Harris in the White House if we are going to protect Social Security. Chip in here to help elect lawmakers who will save Social Security, not make cuts to it >>>
