Two years ago this week, our people-powered movement won the largest investment in climate action EVER! The passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022 put us on a path to cutting climate pollution 40 percent by 2030, while creating nine million family-sustaining jobs (yes, you read that right).

Since then, billions of dollars have been flowing into local communities to build new clean energy infrastructure, fight climate change, protect communities from pollution, and help families save tens of thousands of dollars in energy rebates.

The thing is, most people still don’t know about this historic climate victory and the money that is available to them and their communities!

D: After years of grassroots-led organizing, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law in 2022, which allotted $370 billion to climate programs that will cut pollution, create new jobs and build resilience against the growing impacts of the climate crisis. Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate to pass this historic legislation. 

C: From August 2022 through July 2024, 646 new clean energy projects

were announced and advanced (290 of which are in low-income communities). 

D. The Inflation Reduction Act has sparked the creation of more than 334,000 good-paying, clean energy jobs across the country.

This includes 134,385 jobs in low-income communities.

B. The average household could save nearly $14,000 in clean energy rebates! In total, Inflation Reduction Act rebate programs are expected to save consumers up to $1 billion annually in energy costs.

In addition, new analysis from the Treasury Department and the IRS

show that in 2023, more than 3.4 million American families saved $8.4 billion from consumer tax credits on home energy technologies like electric heat pumps and rooftop solar.
