How are you doing, John? I hope you’re well and this viral pandemic we’re battling hasn’t reached your family. I take comfort in keeping my mind on the mission: fighting the COVID-19 pandemic with everything I’ve got.

 

I’m working the phones day and night, constantly in contact with the White House, FEMA, New York State, local officials and also, I’m proud to say, many community leaders who’ve stepped up to help. I am and will continue to work with partners at all levels of government so we can beat this virus. And, make no mistake, John, we will beat it.

 

My first mission priority is to save as many lives as possible. We will do everything we can to heal those who are sick and protect those who aren’t. A top priority is also getting America back to work while maintaining security until we eradicate this virus for good.

 

As you can imagine, my reelection campaign has been the furthest thing from my mind while all this has been going on. But facts are facts: I’m still in one of the closest and most-hard fought congressional districts in the country.

 

I know this is a tough time and I regret having to ask, John, but we’re facing one of the most competitive races in the nation -- and John, the Democrats have not slowed their fundraising efforts to take our district.
