Great news! The Biden-Harris Administration recently had a huge victory against corporate greed — a judge has ruled that Google operates an illegal monopoly. We can’t overstate how historic this is — and it sets a powerful precedent.
Monopolies have gotten frustratingly common across many industries in recent years. The Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice, have taken legal action against some — including Ticketmaster, Apple, and Amazon.
The administration has also taken meaningful action to protect consumers, including banning non-compete agreements and fighting against junk fees.
FTC Chair Lina Khan and Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter of the Department of Justice have spearheaded many of these fights and worked hard to protect consumer interests. That means billionaires and corporations with monopolies are urging our next president to fire Khan and Kanter so that they can keep exploiting consumers.
