John, if you'll spare a moment, I’d like to tell you about my friend and colleague Jon Tester who, like me, is up for reelection this year.

Tester, from Montana, is one of my favorite people in the Senate — smart, funny, honest, and courageous. He’s an honest-to-goodness farmer who spends most weekends on a tractor back home. Jon doesn’t just understand the needs of hard-working Montanans — he is one.

Here’s the problem, John: we just got word that Jon’s race has been rated a “TOSS UP.” If Jon loses this November, then not only does America lose an outstanding working-class leader, but I lose one of the few Senators who proudly stands in the middle with me, above the partisan bickering. I’m asking for your help to keep him around. Will you split a donation between Jon Tester and my reelection campaigns today?

Now, I may be an Independent, and Jon a Democrat, but we are united by our mission to ease the burden on working families, bridge the divides in our politics, make lives better for our veterans, and ensure that when you send representatives to Washington, they’re working for you.

In fact, Jon Tester is the only Democrat to serve in a statewide office in Montana, which is a testament to his ability to see beyond the partisan divide and put people first. And with vital issues being discussed in Congress, from reproductive freedom to voting rights, Jon Tester is a critical voice and vote we can’t afford to lose.
