Last week, the interim coronavirus relief package was passed in Congress, including more funding for small businesses, struggling rural hospitals, testing, and more – all the things Mike Espy has been calling for in Mississippi.

But before this bill passed, our Mitch McConnell-backed opponent, Cindy Hyde-Smith, was opposed to this relief being included in the bill, even criticizing Democrats for holding up the GOP bill with their “new demands,” up until it passed — then, she completely switched gears and touted the passage of these “demands.” as her own accomplishment.

As Mike said in Mississippi Today — one of the biggest papers in the state — “If ever there was a demonstration of political hypocrisy, look no further than Senator Hyde-Smith. After a week of complaining about Democrats in the Senate... she is now all too happy to try and take credit and celebrate the very funding she was fighting against being in the bill.”

During this pandemic, when coronavirus cases are rising and our rural hospitals are especially struggling, Mississippi needs a Senator who will work across the aisle to fight COVID-19 — not play politics when people’s lives are at stake.
