John,
This week, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar won her primary election despite a recent influx in right-wing spending against her.
Her “Democratic” opponent courted votes from Republicans and took right-wing money. Some of her opponent’s donors sent now-leaked messages to each other, revealing their Islamophobic views and their hopes to see “alt right Christian neo Nazis” in our government.
Racist Republican donors keep spending big in Democratic primary elections, and now they’re emboldened to interfere even more. With funds from pro-Trump billionaires, AIPAC spent more than $25 million to take down two other Black members of our congressional Squad this summer -- making Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman’s primary elections the most expensive ever in U.S. history.
We can’t let right-wing billionaires keep buying our elections. We need to push back against these attacks on our democracy and show the strength of our progressive movement.
That includes supporting candidates who represent the people rather than anti-democratic special interests, like Florida State Representative Angie Nixon, whose primary election is coming up next Tuesday.
Angie’s a community organizer and a true public servant. While in office, she has led a resolution for a ceasefire in occupied Palestine, secured funding for healthcare and public schools, and introduced visionary legislation to help people thrive -- such as universal early child care, tenants’ rights and affordable housing, gun violence prevention, higher teachers’ salaries, life-saving heat protection for workers and people in the prison system, and more.
Please donate to Florida State Rep. Angie Nixon’s re-election campaign today. Unlike her “Democratic” primary opponent who’s backed by corporate special interests, Angie represents the people. With her primary election next Tuesday, she needs our grassroots support now.

We’re seeing more and more attacks on people’s rights in state legislatures, including attempts to violate our constitutional rights to protest. In Florida, state legislators put in place a near-total abortion ban and continue to attack LGBTQ+ people, ban books, and censor teachers.
In order to defend our rights and secure progressive wins, we need to keep progressive champions like Angie Nixon in state legislatures.
Angie plays a leadership role in Florida for All, a statewide coalition fighting for an authentic democracy, an accountable justice system, and a fair and inclusive economy. In alignment with grassroots movements, Angie is standing up for the humanity of all of her constituents -- no matter faith, race, class, or ethnicity.
Will you chip into Angie Nixon’s re-election campaign now, in these last few days before her primary election against a Republican-funded opponent?
Thank you for continuing to demand better. We’re up against powerful special interests, but time and again powerful change happens because grassroots movements push for it. We’ll keep pushing together.
In solidarity,
Rashida
