We promised you that we would take your concerns about Disney’s constant promotion of LGBT ideology directly to their Chief Executive... and last March 11 (right before the coronavirus crisis broke), we did just that.
Caroline Farrow, our brave Campaigns Director for UK and Ireland traveled to Disney’s annual shareholder meeting... and with the help of Justin Danhof a talented lawyer from our US ally, the National Centre for public policy research, she was able to ask the Disney’s CEO (Bob Chapek), why they were continuing to alienate so many families by their incessant pushing of the LGBT agenda.
We also staged an offline protest outside of the building where the shareholder meeting was taking place.
In the shareholders meeting, Caroline asked Disney’s Chief Executive what message he had for the almost 700,000 CitizenGO members who signed the petition asking the huge corporation to keep their parks “family-friendly” and not host events such as ‘Gay Pride’... and Mr. Chapek refused to answer!
It is not as if Mr. Chapek, or his predecessor who was also hosting the meeting, were not prepared for this line of questioning. Before the meeting began, Caroline was approached by Disney security who informed her that they knew she was from CitizenGO and attempted to persuade her to give them the precise wording of the question.
As well as refusing to acknowledge the concerns of those who had signed our petition, Disney confirmed that they wanted to ‘increase their commitment in this area’, ‘represent our audience and tell stories that our audience wants to hear that reflects their lives’.
Please, listen to Caroline asking Disney’s CEO (on your behalf) and to Mr. Chapek answering your question:

This might have gone down well with the liberal Hollywood types. However, as the opening weekend of “Onward”, Disney Pixar’s latest film demonstrates, these stories are not the ones people like you and I want to hear and neither do hundreds of thousands of other people around the world.
Onward, which is Disney Pixar’s latest offering, looks set to be a box office flop, the worst in Disney’s recent history, opening at an all-time low with much lower ticket sales than expected. Furthermore, analysts say that this had absolutely nothing to do with the coronavirus (the opening happened right before the coronavirus crisis had exploded).
Onward is Disney’s first film to feature an openly LGBT character and has been banned in 4 countries, demonstrating that audiences are turning away from this highly-politicized content.
Caroline’s intervention on behalf of CitizenGO was widely reported among many media outlets, including the BBC. Many LGBT online newspapers led hostile attacks on our brave campaigner, claiming that she had attributed Disney’s current fall in stock to their promotion of LGBT content, whereas actually, as the recording shows, she simply asked whether or not it was wise for Disney to relentlessly pursue this agenda at a time when the stock price is low.
Bob Chapek may have written her question off and attributed the fall in share price mainly to the Coronavirus, but the statistics show that the Disney share price was already falling before the current crisis hit.
The fact is that as Onward is showing, ordinary people just don’t want politics of any kind in our movies and especially not content aimed at families. We want wholesome family entertainment and stories which transcend a political agenda, which is the reason why Disney became such a beloved brand in the first place. Ordinary people and families want to be uplifted and inspired, not bombarded with beliefs about sexuality and gender ideology.
We know that Disney’s stubborn refusal to listen to parents is going to hurt their bottom line. We know that the social justice warriors who promote LGBT ideology on social media are not the ones who are going to boycott films, merchandising, and Disney products on masse. How can we now trust this brand as being safe for our children, when they have demonstrated that their loyal customers mean nothing to them?
Disney does not usually promote LGBT characters until a particular franchise is established and Onward shows that this is a strategy that is doomed to fail. Caroline reported to us that the Disney executives were so proud to present at the shareholders meeting clips from upcoming features, full of glamour and glitz. But as many of the questions demonstrated, the executives are willfully blind to and dismissive of the core concerns of their shareholders and the public at large.

We believe that we will be proven right... and we are proud to take the fight directly to the heart of the Disney corporation on your behalf!
Many thanks for all that you do,
Ignacio Arsuaga and the entire CitizenGO team
