John -- Immokalee’s 25,000 farmworkers have been abandoned from real, life-saving protections as the coronavirus continues to spread throughout our state. Florida’s agricultural industry is also at risk, and millions of people across the country depending on local supermarkets to be stocked are left unsure if they’ll be able to feed their families in the coming months. That’s the reality we’re up against as Florida’s elected officials like Gov. Ron DeSantis fail to act. Farmworkers live in overcrowded housing units, travel to and from the fields in packed vans and buses, and don’t have the proper personal protective gear to prevent infection. And Immokalee doesn’t have a hospital to quarantine and treat positive cases. Every day that goes by is another day closer to the virus carving through the state’s agricultural workforce like wildfire. Before we know it, Florida won’t have enough workers to harvest our crops. We can’t let up now, John. There’s still time to protect the lives of tens of thousands of farmworkers. Call Gov. Ron DeSantis NOW and tell him to act. After you click, you’ll be redirected to instructions and talking points to make sure you’re ready to amplify farmworkers’ call for critical health care in Immokalee. STAND WITH IMMOKALEE FARMWORKERS: MAKE A CALL NOW Florida’s tens of thousands of farmworkers are among those most at risk of contracting the coronavirus. And if they are at risk, our nation’s food supply is too. But our campaign is growing stronger every day. We are gaining attention in the national media and thousands of new allies have stepped up to demand testing, protective equipment, and a field hospital for the Immokalee farmworker community. Help stop the spread of the virus and protect tens of thousands of essential workers. Gov. DeSantis has the power to prevent the coronavirus from devastating not just the Immokalee community, but Florida’s entire agricultural industry. Click here to make a call now. When we work together to address the critical needs facing our community, we can make a real difference.
