As the former leader of the New York Chapter of African Communities Together (ACT), receiving the NYIC’s Member of the Year Award at the 2022 gala was an absolute highlight of that year. It meant a great deal to ACT and ACT’s members, who joined us on stage in a colorful and festive celebration of the great recognition and honor of being Member of the Year! ACT is just one thread in the larger tapestry that makes up the NYIC, but sharing that space with our community gave us the chance to celebrate our collective wins. In the fight for immigrant rights, every victory matters, and when one of us wins, we all win. That is what solidarity means to me.
The NYIC’s annual event will bring together members, activists, and supporters to celebrate 37 years of advocacy, and energize us for the years to come. The organization was founded with one fundamental conviction: our voices are stronger together. In 2024, this founding principle of solidarity rings more true than ever before. Immigrants and our allies will need to stand together in the fight for justice. Your support will ensure that we are equipped and ready to meet the needs of our community.
NYIC’s This is Our New York Gala is our largest fundraising event of the year— join us in solidarity and celebration by sponsoring, purchasing a ticket, or making a donation today. This is an opportunity to support our work while also enjoying a night of powerful camaraderie and joy. Please contact Alli Bennett at [email protected] with any questions.
