I am thrilled to announce that NASN is now accepting presentation submissions for NASN2025, Stronger Together. Flexible hosting options mean you can present at the In-Person event in Austin, TX, June 26-29, 2025, or at the online Virtual conference (dates TBD).

Join NASN Delegation to Cuba; Spots Are Limited

In December, NASN President Kate King will lead a delegation of NASN members to visit Havana, Cuba. This one-of-a-kind opportunity will delve into the intersection between the healthcare and education systems in Cuba, with a special focus on the pivotal role of the school nurse. Standards of Practice: Define Who We Are, What We Do & Why We Do It

School nurses can better support students’ health, safety, and readiness to learn by approaching their practice through the lens of the School Nursing Practice Framework™ (the Framework). Call for Applications: Editor of The Journal of School Nursing

NASN announces the search for the Editor of The Journal of School Nursing (JOSN). This peer-reviewed, bimonthly publication has been servicing the field of school nursing in pursuit of high-impact content since its beginning in the 1980s. NASN is accepting Editor applications for a contract commencing January-March 2025. Applications must be submitted by September 13, 2024.

Managing Chronic Health Conditions

Managing and Improving Health Outcomes for Children With Asthma

NASN's new no-cost NCPD program, School-based Environmental Management of Asthma: Strategies and Health Equity Implications, encourages school nurses to actively collaborate with students, parents, and healthcare providers to identify environmental triggers and implement evidence-based environmental interventions for asthma.

Participants will be able to:

Identify common environmental triggers that impact the severity of asthma.
Demonstrate using an environmental history form to assess a student's environmental exposures.
Recommend prevention and intervention strategies to eliminate exposures to environmental triggers, mobilizing a collaborative interdisciplinary team to manage asthma successfully.
Articulate asthma health disparities and health equity strategies to incorporate into school nurse practice.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

The 988 Lifeline, introduced over two years ago, connects to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and increases the accessibility and use of life-saving interventions and resources for anyone experiencing a suicidal or mental health crisis. You can use this video to promote what 988 is, how it works, and the importance of having mental health support available for all people in the U.S. 24/7.
