A 14-year Center employee, and a member of Team CenterPieces, The Center’s official Cycle for the Cause team, he brings his passion, creativity, and fabulous drag queen alter ego Freeda Lay on the road as a Crew Member and raises thousands to support our HIV & AIDS services.
As a member of Crew Barry also dedicates his time and energy to making sure the hundreds of cyclists riding from Boston to New York stay safe, inspired, fed, and hydrated!

< [link removed] > We're honored to welcome the Salsa Soul Sisters back home The Center to celebrate their 50th Anniversary on Wednesday, August 28 from 5:00-8:30 p.m.The Sisters, who from 1987 onward, met within our very walls, created a revolutionary safe space and supportive community for creative lesbians of color to explore and speak their truths.
The 50th anniversary celebration will include delicious refreshments, a Drumming Procession and Ancestral Tribute, a special screening of the acclaimed documentary Lesbian Bar Project, a panel conversation, and a lively reception to follow.

Mr. and Miss Black Pride International Pageant

In this third annual pageant, contestants compete for the honor of being the face of Black Pride for the 2024 year of reign, not to mention $2,000 cash! The event is free to attend. Participant entry fee is $100.

NYC Black Pride 2024 Heritage Awards
The NYC Center For Black Pride has chosen The Center, CEO Dr. Carla Smith and Community Engagement Coordinator Yohon Tatum, as 2024 Heritage Awards honorees.
The Center, Dr. Smith and Yohon will be honored at the ceremony on Friday, August 16 alongside 12 other honorees spanning advocacy, arts & culture, and Ballroom icons.

Center Youth
Ages 13-22
Open Mon-Fri from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m., our Center Youth drop-in program offers young people aged 13-22 a space to be themselves and make lasting connections. Center Youth drop in groups cover everything from learning to Vogue, “gayming,” queer movies, and more.
