Last night I was interviewed by MSNBC to call for action on an urgent issue. Right now, Georgia’s children are going without food because of Republican incompetence.

You see, back in January, Governor Brian Kemp made the decision to reject millions of dollars in federal funding from the USDA “Sun Bucks” Program. 

The “Sun Bucks” Program offers qualified families support to ensure that children continue to receive meals during summer.

Sign my petition right now demanding Brian Kemp accept federal funding before today’s August 15th deadline. There is zero good reason to deny an opportunity to take care of our children and prevent food insecurity.

John, as someone who was a single mother during a recession, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to put food on the table.

So to deny Georgians the benefits of their own tax dollars is something I find utterly outrageous, especially when it is meant to benefit hungry children. 

As elected officials, it is our utmost responsibility to ensure that our people are taken care of. And denying hungry children the resources they need is the antithesis of that. 

How can the GOP claim to be a party that “supports families” when they deny them the basic ability to put food on the table?
