Hi folks, it’s Josh Stein, Democratic candidate for governor in North Carolina with an update on where things stand in my race – a race NBC called “the biggest governor's race of 2024.”

Last time I reached out, we were 100 days away from Election Day. Now, there are 82 days left. Inside Elections and Cook Political Report have both rated my race a toss-up, and polls are showing my opponent and me in a tight race. Political experts are saying that this could be anyone's race – and statewide races in North Carolina nearly always come down to the slimmest of margins.

Folks will have the chance to choose between extremism and progress at every level of the ballot this November – and the future of our country hinges on what happens in North Carolina.

My opponent Mark Robinson and his far-right allies have a dangerous agenda.

If he wins, he will seek a total abortion ban, forcing women to travel out of state for essential reproductive health care; leave North Carolinians voiceless by limiting their voting rights; and defund public schools and keep teachers underpaid. Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC even called Mark Robinson the “craziest and most dangerous Republican running for governor this year.”

Despite all this, national Republicans are still pouring millions of dollars into this race to boost Robinson – but I’m no stranger to facing tough odds.

Throughout my life, I have dedicated myself to serving the people of North Carolina – as a consumer protection lawyer, a state Senator, and Attorney General. In each of these roles, I have taken on big fights and won – standing up for our most fundamental rights and freedoms and defending the interests of North Carolinians at every turn.

Now, I’m ready to do the same as Governor. And the stakes could not be higher: our freedoms are on the line.
