Let’s make something clear: NATO is a crucial alliance that’s foundational to our national security. It sends a strong message to authoritarians like Vladimir Putin and others that the free world remains united.
And at this moment, that couldn’t be more critical.
That’s why I worked across the aisle in the Senate to pass legislation barring any president from unilaterally withdrawing from NATO — protecting this key alliance is more important than any political party or any one president.
The idea that someone running to be Virginia’s United States Senator would so brazenly disrespect NATO — whose U.S. headquarters is right here in Norfolk — is unacceptable. And of course, that’s true for someone running for president, too. (As we know, trashing NATO is straight out of the Trump playbook.)
This is one more reason I’m pushing with everything I’ve got to hold onto my seat, retain our Democratic Senate majority, and deliver Virginia for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
Please, don’t wake up the day after Election Day wishing you had done more to defeat Trump and his acolytes. Donate now to help me build a campaign strong enough to keep Virginia blue and protect our country.
