As wildfires continue to grow in size and intensity as a result of climate change, habitats don't have time to regenerate before burning again, leading to the destruction of open spaces, shrubs, and century-old trees. However, these devastating fires are not inevitable. Together with bird lovers like you, we’re maintaining and protecting resilient landscapes nationwide, pushing for the large-scale change it will take to ease habitat loss and help reverse the climate crisis.
Right now, we’re supporting a number of bills in Congress to reauthorize existing programs or create new programs to restore habitat, protect wildlife, and build community resilience in places like the Great Lakes, the Connecticut River, the Everglades and South Florida, the Delaware River basin, the Mississippi River, and across the imperiled sagebrush ecosystem. |
