Keeping up the pressure to Save Rooftop Solar
Rooftop solar panels are a key part of California’s renewable energy portfolio, and a major part of how California has been able to keep electricity flowing steadily even through this year’s intense heat.
Energy companies have been trying to kill rooftop solar for years to protect their own centralized generation interests. And they’ve done significant damage, which the Save Rooftop Solar Coalition is trying to repair while protecting the rooftop solar incentives that still exist.
SB 1374, which would partially restore Net Metering and allow schools and renters to benefit from rooftop solar, was put into the Suspense File last week in the Appropriations Committee. This means this bill is on the ropes—and there is a vote coming up this Thursday in the Appropriations Committee to decide whether to rescue it from suspense or kill it entirely. Our Assemblymember Haney is on the committee, and we need you to call him if you haven’t already!
Call Asm. Haney and tell him: Vote YES on SB 1374!
Get Energized for the #BlueWave2024 with the California Grassroots Alliance
Part of how we’ll win back control of the House of Representatives is winning six key seats right here in California. The good news is, our friends at the California Grassroots Alliance are reporting record signups and increased enthusiasm from people eager to help.
The Alliance is encouraging donations to our friends at Field Team 6 to acquire the email addresses of unregistered likely democratic voters in California to try to get them to register to vote. Registering more blue and purple voters in these six Congressional districts—and then getting them out to vote—will be key to winning back control of the House of Representatives.
Remember: the road to our House Majority goes through California, so we need every voter we can get on board! Donate or take action on the Alliance’s website.
Winning the White House won’t happen in a day. It’ll take regular involvement
You crashed Zoom with record-breaking mass calls. Now it’s time to take action. Join Indivisible National for their weekly Women Wednesdays for Harris to keep up the momentum and get involved. They also have regular phone banks that you can find on their Linktree.
It’s 2024. Are you staying safe from COVID-19?
As 2024 progresses, we’re now several months into a surge of COVID-19.
COVID-19 hasn’t gone away. It’s still making us sick and still disabling people with long COVID. Wearing a mask helps keep you from getting the virus and spreading it to others—the flip side of which is, not masking enables you to get infected and to spread it to others.
For this reason, San Francisco’s Department of Public Health has encouraged residents to wear masks in crowded indoor spaces, as have other public health authorities such as Contra Costa County’s.
And in just a month or so, we’ll have a new round of COVID-19 vaccines for 2024–2025. Make sure to get yours—and your flu shot—promptly. Vaccines help you get less sick when you do get COVID-19, and make it more likely that you’ll make a full recovery.
COVID-19 is a part of our present reality and will be for the foreseeable future. We can maintain healthy, full lives by acting accordingly.
