Join us in standing together for survivors and the organizations that serve them.
When Denim Day was started, Peace Over Violence was inspired by the sentiment of fusing one of the most ordinary things one could do–put on a pair of jeans–with one of the most serious and yet silenced traumas: sexual violence. This Wednesday, we will be commemorating the 21st Annual Denim Day.
Two decades of advocacy and education have brought us here, where we will join with millions worldwide, standing in solidarity with survivors and one another. Regardless of how you express your solidarity for survivors, you are supporting the mission to end sexual violence and to disrupt rape culture.
Thank you for building this movement with us. Remember to register your participation and join us virtually on Wednesday at 2pm PDT/5pm EDT!
PREVENTION @ HOME: Violence Prevention Specialist Training 4:00pm PDT
Hosted by Peace Over Violence's Prevention squad, these will be instagram live sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm-5pm. Every week we will teach a different unit from our In Touch with Teens curriculum. To tune in follow us on Instagram at @peaceovrviolnce and @youthoverviolence
April 29
Denim Day Press Conference 9:30am PDT
Los Angeles City Council President, Nury Martinez, will join Patti Giggans to officially declare and commemorate Denim Day in the city of Los Angeles. The press conference will be streamed live via Councilmember Martinez's social media platforms.
In solidarity, let's wear our denim with a purpose or download one of our "California Stands with Survivors" Zoom Backgrounds! and *log in* to advocate for sexual and domestic violence programs at 10am PDT.
Let's gather our virtual selves in the virtual world for an unprecedented Denim Day Survivor Virtual Rally. For those of us who have been wearing pajamas and sweatpants for the past few weeks, we can change into our denim for a good cause on Wednesday, April 29th.
We'll be joined by community leaders, survivors, advocates, and friends to recognize this important day. Don't forget to wear jeans with a purpose to spread the message that there is no excuse and never an invitation to harass, abuse, assault, or rape.
