Explore through trail cameras
Trail cameras can be an excellent tool for wildlife biologists to study animals. Biologists use trail cameras to observe hard-to-find animals, like wolverines, that they might not be able to spot otherwise. They can also use cameras at night to see nocturnal animals. Sometimes biologists place cameras in very remote areas that are hard to get to or stay in, so they can gather data for months at a time without having to stick around.
Trail cameras also offer a unique view into the natural world. When you're near wildlife, do the animals seem relaxed, or do they run or fly away? Trail cameras can allow us to feel up close and personal with wildlife without disturbing them.
As you watch this trail camera footage, think about the animals' behavior. Why might they be acting that way? How many species can you count throughout the video?
