Growing up, whenever I had complaints my parents would always respond, "okay, so what are you going to do about it?" After the 2016 election, I had a lot of complaints. So I decided to do something about it by volunteering with Let America Vote.

Before joining the LAV team in New Hampshire, I never lived in supporter housing or volunteered for a campaign. I certainly had never knocked any doors. I was so nervous! But my nerves quickly turned to excitement.

And imagine how we all felt on election night in 2018 -- when we flipped both the New Hampshire State House and Senate. Knowing that I played a part in making that happen is a feeling I will never forget.

That's why I'm encouraging you to volunteer with Let America Vote in Virginia - no matter where you live. I promise you won't regret a single second.

I could go on forever listing reasons why you should volunteer with Let America Vote.

But I want to share one particular reason with you: I felt hope.

Hope for people. Hope for our democracy.

With every good conversation I had at the doors, I became more energized. I wanted to knock more doors and talk to as many voters as I could.

And on election night, I couldn't help but smile and realize that I really made a difference. That every single volunteer played a huge part in our victory.

I knew that I had done everything I could to help make our country a better place -- and I had fun while doing it!
