How many Iowans does it take to make change, John?
No, that's not the start of a terrible joke. It's something that's been on my mind for a while.
I talk a lot about the need for a broad coalition to stand up for the needs of our communities and leadership which reflects the strengths and diversity of this great state. Part of that is electing more Democrats to the state legislature to fight for our values; Democrats like Jess Lopez-Walker.
Jess is a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and has lived in Sioux City for 20 years. In that time, she has been an integral part of the community as a small business owner, foster parent, co-chair of the native PAC for the Sioux City school district, and a leader of various community organizations.
When I look at Jess, what I see is the exact kind of leader we need fighting for our values in Des Moines: humble, driven, and dedicated to her community and their needs. Will you split a donation between Jess's campaign and mine to help elect strong leaders here at home?
