John, I'm running for Governor of Virginia, because this race is personal to me. Let me explain why.
Growing up, we moved around multiple times for my father’s job, but ultimately, we settled in Virginia. My parents — my father, a veteran and law enforcement officer, and my mother, a nurse — instilled in me a deep devotion to our country and an abiding commitment to service.
I attended Henrico County Public Schools and went on to attend the University of Virginia. After graduation, I began my career as a federal law enforcement officer — working on money laundering cases and tracking narcotics traffickers with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. I then joined the CIA as a case officer, where I worked undercover, collecting intelligence, managing assets, and overseeing high-profile programs to combat terrorism and keep Americans safe.

In 2014, my husband Adam and I moved back to Henrico County, just miles from where we grew up, to raise our own children. I never thought I would one day run for elected office, but when I saw the division and dysfunction threatening our country after the 2016 election, I knew our country and Virginia’s 7th District deserved better.
In Congress, I’ve worked every day to lower prescription drug costs, protect our democracy, support our veterans, defend our rights, and more. But now, Virginia is seeing dangerous and divisive rhetoric take over Richmond and drive extreme policies.
I’m running for Governor, because I know we can do better – and I’m ready to bring my unwavering dedication to hard work and my commitment to uniting individuals to address the genuine issues affecting our Commonwealth. I hope you’ll join me in my campaign today:
