Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! This week I am in State College for Penn State’s annual Ag Process Days, an outdoor agricultural exposition. While I’m here, I’ll also be attending subcommittee meetings for the Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness committee. Below are several updates in the district that I wanted to share with you.
As always, I hope you find this informative and useful.
| | License Plate Restoration
| | Illegible license plates can be subject to a fine of $100. Do you have a license plate that is deteriorating? We can help with that! On Thursday, Sept. 5, I will be hosting a FREE License Plate Restoration with state Rep. Joe Ciresi and the Upper Providence Police Department at Anderson Farm Park from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. By pre-registering, an application to replace your illegible plate will be filled out in your name, processed by us, and then signed by you and a police officer at the event. Bring your registration, license, and yourself! To pre-register, call my office at 484-200-8263 or submit your information through our Google Form. You will be notified when the restored plate is delivered to our office in a few weeks. We look forward to seeing you there!
| | Summer Food Drive
| | | I want to take a moment THANK each neighbor who donated to our Summer Food Drive. The number of contributions we received from each drop off location around the district and our office directly was tremendous. The items we received were successfully donated to both Daily Bread Community Food Pantry and St. James’ Episcopal Church Outreach House. Neighbors helping neighbors!
| | | I was grateful that local experts gathered with our neighbors to share techniques to avoid digital fraud and scams. I was happy to see such a great turnout from our participants! Thank you to the PA Department of Banking and Securities, Upper Providence Police Dept., Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, PA Attorney General's Office, and AARP PA for presenting, and to Upper Providence Township for providing use of your facility.
| | Variety – the Children’s Charity of Delaware Valley
| | Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to tour Variety – the Children’s Charity with my colleagues from the Montco House Delegation. At their Delaware Valley chapter in Worcester, we learned about the services they offer to children and young adults with disabilities. As a global nonprofit organization, their commitment to empowering participants is remarkable and I was truly impressed with the breadth of vocational support and training they provide.
| | Sen. Cappelletti’s Kids’ Fair at Elmwood Park Zoo
| | Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending state Sen. Amanda Cappelletti’s fourth annual Kids' Fair at the Elmwood Park Zoo. We weathered the rain alongside Team Cappelletti and Team Matt Bradford for a successful evening that included live performances, community resources, and free snacks and swag for the kids. Always a pleasure to attend this event and meet with the community!
| | America 250
| | In preparation for the historical 250th anniversary of America on July 4, 2026, America250 plans to honor the countless historical milestones and contributions our country has to offer. As America250’s first state partner, Pennsylvania, under the title of America250PA, has a mission called E.P.I.C., which aims to educate, preserve, innovate and celebrate the rich
history of Pennsylvania. I want to highlight historical features and stories within each township in the 150th district that helped mold our beautiful state and country. If you know any historical locations or stories that should be featured, please reach out to my office at 484-200-8263 or email [email protected]. #PAProud
| | August Observances
| National Nonprofit Day – Aug. 17
| | August 17 is recognized as National Nonprofit Day! This day celebrates the work and impact nonprofits continuously achieve on both national and local levels. There are over one million nonprofits in the United States that dedicate their time to serve our communities and generate a positive impact in them. Our office wants to thank each nonprofit for their commitment, tireless work, and effort to support our neighbors.
| | 19th Amendment Ratified – Aug. 18
| | On Aug. 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified. As a result of the perseverance across the women’s suffrage movement, this achievement granted white women the right to vote. While we celebrate and recognize this success, this did not guarantee all women the right to vote. It wasn’t until nearly five decades later through the Voting Rights Act and Civil Rights Act that women of color were finally able to freely exercise their right to vote in the United States.
