Keeping plastic out of nature. Stopping the crisis of plastic pollution to protect nature requires action from every level of government, from state and federal measures in the US to a global legally binding treaty.
At the state level, Minnesota policymakers enacted a new law that requires all packaging in the state to be reusable, recyclable, compostable, or collected by an approved alternative collection system by 2032.
As the single largest consumer in the world, the US federal government has an outsized role to play in curbing plastic waste. The Biden Administration recently announced commitments to phase out single-use plastic products across all federal agencies by 2035, and in food service by 2027.
This November, world leaders face a make-or-break moment in what may be the final round of talks to secure a global treaty to address plastic pollution. Help amplify WWF's call for the most ambitious possible outcomes to hold all countries to a high standard on reducing plastic waste. |

Investing in biodiversity conservation.
Congress has until the end of September to pass this year's spending bills—which include critical funds for international conservation programs.
The good news is, the House and Senate have largely maintained or even increased funds for these programs through federal agencies such as USAID and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. |

Making good on climate change commitments. The planet keeps getting hotter. As we transition to a sustainable and resilient future, we need robust policies that protect communities and nature.
Food waste is a major driver of greenhouse gas emissions that we can curb as consumers every day, as well as with more sustainable agriculture practices. Congress faces a September deadline to renew the Farm Bill—which sets many of the US' most critical food and agriculture policies—and we need your help in urging lawmakers to support healthy people, a healthy planet, and a healthy farm economy.
Halting the threats posed by climate change will require collective action from governments around the world. At the UN General Assembly and Climate Week in New York City and COP29 in Azerbaijan this fall, the WWF delegation will urge governments to make good on ambitious nature and climate commitments. As we're seeing extreme weather affect almost every corner of the world and record after record being broken, we need ambitious climate actions from world leaders.
Thank you for being here with us and helping us spread the word about these crucial issues. We can't do this important work without you and the WWF activist community! |
