John — The Washington Post broke a bombshell story yesterday about how Donald Trump is cashing in on his cozy relationship with Big Oil, and the details are even more alarming than you’d imagine. After Trump made an audacious request that the oil industry contribute $1 billion to his campaign, Harold Hamm (the billionaire founder of Continental Resources, a massive Oil and Gas company) immediately sprung into action. He’s been working overtime to bankroll Trump’s 2024 election bid. Hamm and his cronies have a wishlist, and Trump is ready to deliver the moment he steps back into the Oval Office: gutting environmental protections, opening up federal lands for drilling, and giving the fossil fuel industry a free pass to pollute our air and water. In other words, the mega-rich oil barons are buying political influence at the highest level, and Trump is more than happy to sell it. And that’s not all, John. This news comes on the heels of a live conversation Trump had with Elon Musk this week on the social media platform “X”. The whole thing was a snooze fest filled with disinformation, but the message was clear: Trump doesn’t give a damn that our planet is dying. He even went as far as to celebrate rising sea levels caused by climate change, claiming it would mean more "oceanfront property" (my eyes rolled into the back of my head) and dismissed the climate crisis as less important than his bizarre obsession with "nuclear warming." These greedy billionaires aren't just betting on Trump — they’re banking on him. And the money is flowing. We don’t need this failed real estate developer turned climate profiteer in the White House. We need a leader with a plan — a real plan for our planet and our future.
