In November, we can restore our rights and make this state safer for women and families.
JOHN,
It’s official: reproductive rights will be on the ballot in November.
Amendment 3 will overturn Missouri’s total ban on abortion by guaranteeing a constitutional right to an abortion until fetal viability (around 24 weeks). After viability, the amendment allows for a better-defined exception for abortions needed when the life or health of the mother is at risk. Amendment 3 will also establish a patient’s right to make decisions about reproductive healthcare, including contraception, without governmental interference.
This is fantastic news, but we absolutely must have more Democratic voices of sanity, common sense, and respect for democracy in the State Senate to ensure that this measure is enacted with no political gamesmanship or cynical attempts to undermine these (and other) fundamental rights.
The extremists who have dominated the Missouri Senate have shown time and again that they cannot be trusted to do the right thing, even when the people speak with one voice, loudly and clearly. We must also defeat them at the ballot box—and the path to doing this requires us to win my race in Senate District 15 and flip this seat red to blue.
