Content/Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault and Abuse
Dear friend,
Last month, we scored a huge victory in our criminal justice reform work: The Federal Prison Oversight Act (FPOA) passed through Congress, marking a crucial step toward accountability and justice within our federal prison system. However, passing this bill is only the beginning, friend, and we need your help to ensure that families see the benefits of this victory.

This groundbreaking bill is a legislative win that will help secure the safety of people in federal prisons. FPOA establishes a rigorous inspection protocol for Bureau of Prisons (BOP) facilities. All federal prisons will undergo routine inspections by the Inspector General, and high-risk facilities will receive more frequent inspections.
The importance of this bill and the urgent need for oversight is highlighted by the atrocities that took place at FCI Dublin before its recent closure. FCI Dublin had become known as the “federal rape club” because of widespread sexual abuse of incarcerated women by guards. However, Dublin is not unique. FPOA will help stop abuses like the ones that occurred at FCI Dublin from happening elsewhere—but not without our continued pressure on members of Congress to implement it!
Join the fight to make sure that injustices such as those that occurred in Dublin, in addition to long-standing issues with prison conditions and staffing, do not continue. Sign up to give a recurring gift today: [link removed] [[link removed]]
We need 100 new monthly donors at $10 a month to bring us one step closer to our goal: holding the BOP accountable and ensuring transparency and corrective actions. With each recurring donation, FAMM will continue our work to educate lawmakers and the Department of Justice about the need to faithfully implement FPOA, including elevating the unique voices of incarcerated people and their families to highlight just how important oversight is.
When you give a monthly gift to FAMM, you will enable us to expand our work in meaningful, lasting ways. Please make a special gift to our Oversight Fund and extend the impact of your gift to be felt for years to come: [link removed] [[link removed]]
Together, we can make a difference and make sure that incarcerated people and their families get the justice and support they need.
Thank you,
