Recently we filed federal complaints on behalf of two women who were denied life-threatening treatment for ectopic pregnancies at Texas hospitals. These are not isolated incidents—they are part of a broader, dangerous trend of pregnant people being kept from the care they need due to restrictive abortion laws.

But it's not just pregnant people who are facing the devastating impact of these laws. A new study has confirmed our worst fears—Texas's extreme abortion ban is directly responsible for rising infant mortality. [link removed]

The Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics reports a nearly 13% increase in infant deaths in Texas since the abortion ban in 2021.

It’s never been clearer that the term ‘pro-life’ is a farce. Politicians are forcing women to carry doomed pregnancies and give birth to babies who will live only a few painful minutes or hours. This suffering is man-made—it’s being inflicted by Texas lawmakers while Texas families face the consequences. [link removed]

These findings come weeks after the Texas Supreme Court reaffirmed that abortions are not allowed for even lethal fetal conditions. The ruling forces people to continue doomed pregnancies against their will.

The Center for Reproductive Rights has been fighting S.B. 8, Texas’ vigilante abortion ban from the start. We know the harm laws like this cause, and with your support, we’ll continue to confront anti-abortion extremists in Texas and beyond.
