Climate-fueled disasters are accelerating across the country, John, causing harm to our homes, communities and environment.
To combat this, some of the most affected states, like Florida, Louisiana and Virginia, are implementing statewide resilience strategies to protect communities and ensure their infrastructure is resilient in the face of worsening disasters.
But every state in the U.S. feels the impacts of climate change. That's why we need a proactive national strategy to prepare and protect our communities from wildfires, storms and other extreme weather events.
It’s time for community leaders and advocates like you to call for bold strategies that will boost climate resilience and preparedness nationwide. Add your name to show your support and push for a national resilience strategy. [link removed]

Billion-dollar weather disasters fueled by climate change are becoming more frequent and more devastating. In 2023, the U.S. experienced 28 separate weather and climate disasters costing at least $1 billion, the highest number on record. Altogether, damage from extreme weather racked up a bill of over $2.6 trillion nationwide.
2023 was also deadly, causing at least 492 fatalities — the 8th most disaster-related fatalities for the contiguous U.S. in over 40 years.
The lack of a national strategy leaves us, our families and our communities unprotected from future disasters. We must step up investment in preparedness now, instead of waiting for the next crisis to hit.
Climate change is here, and we need to prepare for the challenges it brings. But if we take action with a proactive and nationwide approach for climate resilience, we will save lives, protect our communities and provide a better future for people and nature.
