UAW files labor charges against Trump and Musk over strike remarks
During Monday night's glitch-filled, grievance-airing party on nüTwitter, fellow white supremacists Elon Musk and Donald Trump bantered about firing workers threatening to strike for better pay. Trump said, "You walk in, you say, You want to quit? They go on strike, I won't mention the name of the company, but they go on strike and you say, 'That's OK, you're all gone. You're all gone. So, every one of you is gone.'" Firing workers for threatening to strike is a major violation of labor law, and the juggernaut UAW labor union — which is in the process of organizing workers at Tesla — has fired back by filing federal labor charges against the famed car exploder and MAGA cult leader. "Both Trump and Musk want working class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It's disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns," UAW President Shawn Fain said in a statement. Hear, hear!

Unfortunately, it appears the world is set to barrel past the 1.5C limit that we all promised to work towards in the Paris Climate Agreement in 2016. If we work together and do everything we possibly can, we have a 50% chance of limiting warming to a temporary 1.6 degrees, but the new study warns that "feasibility constraints, especially in the institutional dimension" (they mean Republicans) will "decrease this maximum likelihood considerably to 5–45%." This means we are in big trouble. As if the stakes for the 2024 election weren't high enough already, they just got a LOT higher.

17 Oklahoma state House Republicans sign letter calling for investigation into possible impeachment of State Superintendent Ryan Walters
Ryan Walters shot to national notoriety for his fervent embrace of anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and for hiring the utterly irredeemable Chaya "LibsofTikTok" Raichik to advise the state on which super dangerous gay books they should pull from public library shelves. But it appears Walters' tyranny has rustled feathers in the wrong places, and now he's under investigation by his own party for refusing to answer their questions about just where all the public money they've given him is going. The letter complains that Walters' behavior has been "unprofessional, beneath the dignity of a statewide elected official, and most importantly, contrary to the best interest of the taxpayers and students of the State of Oklahoma." Do you know how corrupt you have to be to get investigated by Republicans? In OKLAHOMA? Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Basically everywhere they've been trotted out, "school choice" programs have just turned out to be Republican scams to funnel taxpayer money into for-profit institutions that certainly don't have "teaching" at the top of their priority list. Oklahoma is now learning this lesson the hard way, as the new "Parental Choice Tax Credit Program," which gave families $3750 to send their kids to private school, simply led to the private schools raising their tuition by thousands of dollars. Wow! It's almost like some things should not be subjected to the capricious whims of the unfeeling capitalist wealth extraction machine!

On his own on the campaign trail for the first time, vice presidential nominee Tim Walz delivered a barnburning speech to the workers of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union, extolling the Democratic Party's commitment to the working class and drawing a sharp contrast with their Republican rivals. Walz declared that "Donald Trump and JD Vance, they see the world very differently than we do. The only thing those two guys know about working people is how to work to take advantage of them. Every single chance they've gotten, they've waged war on workers!" Walz also took the chance to respond to the absurd attempts to "swift boat" him by the right wing, stating, "I firmly believe you should never denigrate another person's service record. Anyone brave enough to put on that uniform for our great country, including my opponent, I just have a few simple words. Thank you for your service and sacrifice." The US State Department has decided now is a good time to send a whole new bunch of weapons and ammo to Israel, including new F-15 fighter jets and tens of thousands of tank and mortar shells. Hours before this announcement, an Israeli airstrike killed two twin babies, Asser and Ayssel, who were just four days old, while their father was at a government office registering their births. The strike also killed their mother and their grandmother. The father returned home to find his entire family dead. This brings the number of infants killed by Israeli attack in Gaza to 115.

Workers allege "nightmare" conditions at Kentucky startup JD Vance helped fund
Vance was an investor, board member, and hypeman for the "AppHarvest," a startup that promised a high-tech future for farming and for the workers of Eastern Kentucky. Unsurprisingly, all it delivered was misery and abuse as the urge to cut every cost and squeeze every last drop of profit led to employees being forced to work in grueling conditions inside the company’s greenhouse, where temperatures often soared into the triple digits. Complaints filed with the US Department of Labor and a Kentucky regulator between 2020 and 2023 show that workers alleged they were given insufficient water breaks and weren’t provided adequate safety gear. Eventually, all the Kentuckian workers left, to be replaced with migrant workers who were treated equally as poorly. AppHarvest would file for bankruptcy in 2023, collapsing under over $300 million in debt. Yeah, we should DEFINITELY listen to these guys about how to run the economy.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation places limits town police's access to sensitive law enforcement data after chief spouts bonkers QAnon conspiracies
Police Chief Bryan Morris of Millersville has complained that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has begun placing limits on the information that his department is able to access after Morris began publicly promoting his deranged QAnon beliefs and wild, baseless accusations on podcasts. The whole thing started after his assistant police chief, Shawn Taylor, ran a highly problematic child predator sting operation. Taylor used civilians to pose as children online (illegal), boasted of using "pre-signed search warrants" (also illegal), turned one suspect over to a vigilante group for "questioning" (incredibly illegal), and had that same suspect taken to a jail where he would likely not come out alive (uh, that would be murder). Now the media and officials at the TBI, who Morris believes are both infiltrated with pedophiles, are scrutinizing the department and its outrageous behavior, which includes using federal databases to investigate political campaigns and private citizens. Worth noting: The Millersville City Council still supports Morris, because THEY ARE ALSO QAnon devotees. When pressed by reporters for an explanation, Morris said, "You know the only thing I can think is: You are a pedophile or you are covering for somebody that is. That’s the only reason I can come up with." It's clear that we haven't even begun to grapple with the long-term effects of MAGA psychosis or understand how much chaos its causing in communities across America.
