You can help beat this pandemic
*"A Message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:"*
*Keep up social distancing*
Stay home graphic
Weve just had a weekend of nice weather and I know it is particularly frustrating at such times not to be able to get together with wider family and friends to enjoy our green spaces and to catch up. While the vast majority of people are complying with current restrictions, there were a few reports of gatherings over the weekend in the city. Instances such as these will really undermine our efforts and ultimately lead to overwhelming the NHS and loss of life. Responding to these instances also diverts our stretched local resources. It is really important that we continue to adhere to social distancing and stay two metres apart from people who are not from our immediate household.

*Honouring workers who have lost their lives due the Coronavirus*
International worker's memorial day
Tomorrow is International Workers' Memorial Day, a day where we will reflect and remember the selfless workers who have lost their lives. Every year the sacrifice of workers around the world is recognised, but this year has a special significance because of the coronavirus pandemic and the country will be asked to observe a minutes silence. The minutes silence will allow everyone to pay their respects and give special thanks for the lives of those, such as the health, care and other workers who have lost their lives due to coronavirus.
The national one minute silence takes place tomorrow at 11am. Please join us in your homes or your workplaces across the city to honour all the workers who have died from Coronavirus and other work-related injuries and diseases.
