Dear
SPUC supporter,
Have you seen the SPUC-supported, feature-length movie, An Irish Angel, yet? Though released just this year, the movie has been in the pipeline for six years now, so I'm delighted that we are finally able to present it to you!
Best described as a quirky and counter-cultural comedy-drama, the movie marks an innovative collaboration between up-and-coming independent film director, Danny Patrick, Empire Productions and SPUC.
Writer/Director Danny Patrick first came to SPUC with the idea for the movie back in 2018, after being deeply affected by the experience of the Irish abortion referendum, and the story is based on a real-life situation that happened within his own extended family. This teen-pregnancy, coming-of-age drama follows Aine, a 15-year-old schoolgirl, who faces her pregnancy dilemma in the face of imploding personal circumstances— her widowed mother facing redundancy, her gran dying of terminal cancer, and her best friend Leo mixed up with a bunch of dangerously-incompetent wannabe local gangsters.
Our movie is available on all major digital platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube/Google Play. I'd encourage you to give it a watch!
