Warm greetings from the PAN UK team,

If you're looking for ways to keep children entertained at home in these challenging times we wanted to let you know about a great new resource ([link removed]) we think children will enjoy. Pesticides are not just used to grow our food, they're also sprayed on our pavements, verges, parks and other urban green spaces, including schools. They can wreak havoc on our already struggling wildlife and are also linked to many health issues.

A new page ([link removed]) on our website is dedicated to kids, to educate them on some of the issues associated with pesticides (without alarming them) and giving them some fun and practical challenges to tackle. And if you want to make real change you can have a go and getting your school to go pesticide-free ([link removed]) !

We'd love to hear how you get on so email us (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Pesticide-Free%20Challenge%20for%20Kids) with your feedback, pictures and questions.

** And just a reminder for those with green fingers...
------------------------------------------------------------

As you know, gardens and allotments are havens for wildlife, but pesticide products can make them toxic environments. Herbicides (weedkillers), insecticides, and slug pellets are still widely used in gardens, poisoning our wildlife and removing their food sources. When was the last time you saw a hedgehog in your garden? Hedgehog numbers have declined ([link removed]) from 30 million in the 1950s to around one million. Garden birds ([link removed]) , bats ([link removed]) , frogs and toads ([link removed]) are all declining in numbers. And our insects, pollinators and native flowers are disappearing at an alarming rate.

We have a handy pesticide-free gardening guide ([link removed]) on our website - it's free and easy to download. Enjoy!
