COVID-19 in Juvenile Facilities

The Sentencing Project has developed a new online resource for tracking cases of the novel coronavirus in juvenile facilities across the United States. At least 150 youth and over 200 staff members have been infected by COVID-19. In order to limit the spread of the virus, we must immediately enact reforms that relieve crowding in juvenile facilities and better serve the needs of young people. This research has appeared in the Washington Post, NPR, and NBC News.

Because states and counties have not always been forthcoming with information about the virus in their facilities, The Sentencing Project welcomes your continued assistance in making sure this information is as comprehensive as possible. Please share information about COVID-19 infections in juvenile facilities with Josh Rovner, Senior Advocacy Associate, at [email protected].
