Hi John,
My name is Elsie Falconer, and I am the President of Kids for the Boundary Waters - a program of Save the Boundary Waters’ national coalition to protect the Wilderness from potential sulfide-ore copper mining.
Attention teens and young adults: apply now to join our Washington D.C. trip this November! [[link removed]]
Kids for the Boundary Waters works to elevate the voices of tomorrow’s leaders, today. We are the generation that will inherit the Wilderness - as it is today with water so clean we can drink from the lake, healthy fish to eat over the campfire, with loons that sing us to sleep and dark skies to stargaze and if you’re lucky enough, to see the northern lights.
Kids for the Boundary Waters operates under the tagline of - When kids speak up, adults listen! And, I have witnessed this in my five trips to Washington D.C., talking to members of Congress and Presidential Administrations. Kids for the BW helped get this issue on the radar of the Obama Administration;we persisted striving for protections and fighting bad bills during the Trump Administration, and we all celebrated after being part of the coalition that won the 20- year mining ban last January!

However, our work is not done until we have permanent protections for the Boundary Waters. I would only be in my 30’s when the current mining ban ends - we need to make that ban permanent!

Our generation and the ones after us deserve a pristine Wilderness, so we’re headed to D.C. this November to talk to members of Congress and the Administration.
Take a look at our Kids for the Boundary Waters page here, we have information on the trip itself, logistics and how to apply! [[link removed]]
Please consider helping us by inviting any young people you know to D.C. with us this November!
Kids for the Boundary Waters trips are an incredible experience. We actually get to meet with U.S. Senators and Congresspersons themselves. Of course, who wouldn’t want to meet and take a pic with a bunch of passionate youth! But not just advocating for our favorite place on earth, we learn important life- long skills:
*
How
to
succinctly
speak
up
for
something
we
believe
in
*
How
Congress
works
and
what
it
takes
to
help
pass
legislation
*
How
to
be
part
of
a
coalition
aligned
with
the
same
goals
*
and
so
much
more!

P.S. We need kids from across the country to join us in November. Our best trips are when we are able to get meetings with Senators and Representatives across the country in both red and blue districts and your kid’s voice could be the one that helps convince them to vote for the Boundary Waters.
