DeSantis is putting every single student in Florida's future in danger. He continues to ban books about Black and brown history, reject African American Studies courses, and now he wants to teach students that there were benefits to slavery.
This isn’t just extreme Republican policies – this is fascism.
I grew up in Florida attending public schools, and my mom was a public school teacher for thirty years. I know the importance of a quality education. That makes this personal to me – which is why I’m building up my on-the-ground organizing team to fight back. But we need your help.

John, DeSantis has shown that he isn’t going to stop his far-right extremist agenda. It is time we start electing officials who care about our lives – not ones who push their extremist agenda in the classroom.
That is why I started a year-round youth organizing program – to show that we aren’t going to sit on the sidelines and let DeSantis destroy our future. We are mobilizing voters ahead of the next election, John, because we MUST elect leaders who will move Florida forward, not backward.
